The Lost Art of Vaquero Horsemanship

The Cowboy Exclaims

The centuries-old Vaquero training method can transform a recalcitrant horse into a finely-tuned partner for a cowboy. But the process takes time, and Alberta cowboy Doug Walsh feels he hasn’t much time left. Walsh his 70 now. Will Bunny be his last horse?

Bunny was a trauma rescue, and while Walsh doesn’t know the details of her past, Bunny’s half-severed tongue hints at abuse suffered under a previous owner. Walsh has been working with Bunny for years now. She doesn’t trust him yet. Maybe she never will.

The Vaquero process strives to create harmony between horse and rider: one a solitary, book-loving and flamenco-dancing cowboy who speaks like a poet. The other a troubled horse with a tormented history.*
